Case Study: Company Name Generator - NameMESH
Continuing on the previous post, we decided to test our current version on NameMESH Generator.
We want to go ahead with a very popular domain, so we choose ‘photos’.
- 14 million – Number of Instagram accounts created during 2011.
- 60 – The average number of photos uploaded per second to Instagram.
- 100 billion – Estimated number of photos on Facebook by mid-2011.
- 51 million – Total number of registered users on Flickr.
- 4.5 million – Number of photos uploaded to Flickr each day.
- 6 billion – Photos hosted on Flickr (August 2011).
- 1 – Apple iPhone 4 is the most popular camera on Flickr.
Let’s take the problem of naming a company which wants to make a mobile app to take photos using phone camera. This is a popular scenario and finding a .COM may be challenge. Some may say that it might be hard to even find a cheap premium domain.
Well, Lets give our NameMESH generator a shot.
So, we began with defining the word buckets. Remember bucket? Its used to hold your concept keywords.
So, we defined our first bucket with words - ‘snap’, ‘grab’, ‘cool’. we choose ‘snap’, ‘grab’ as it is used to capture images. we also included ‘cool’ as it takes cool pics and we are inline with this concept as well.
While selecting the words, we found ‘flip’ in the drop down suggestion and we decided to have it as well.
Now, we define the second bucket. we choose ‘pic’, ‘photo’. And added ‘picture’ and ‘image’ from suggestions as well.
Then we hit GO!
So, What were the results.
Let’s begin with Generic combinations.
We found 2 domains namely, ’snappicture’ and ‘flippicture’ as available. This is great as generic domains are really good for SEO. So we decided to check using Google Adwords Tool.
And we found that ‘snap picture’ has 49,500 global monthly searches and ‘flip picture’ has 74,000 global monthly searches.
This is awesome! We found two .COM of high SEO available.
Now, lets move on to the Hacks generator.
We found a lot of names but listing only which we thought could be branded.
coolopic, cooloto, coolicture, coolpictur, koolpicture, grabpik, picturool, graboto, imagool, picturot, photab, grabicture, grabpictur, imagot, picturab, imagab, picturap, flipicture, flipopic, snapimag, flippictur, imagap, coolic, koolpic, koolphoto, hotpik, grabic, picool, photool, picot, grabapic, snapapic, photot, hotpictur, snappic, snappik, snapic, flipic, flipapic, flippik, snapicture, flipapicture, photap
